Happy New Year!

After looking after our creative industries blog for a few years, I’m going to be moving to a new role within the British Library to promote our Shop and commercial services.

It’s been an absolute pleasure writing for you, building up a loyal following for our blog and working on projects like Spring Festival and our Jewellery designer in residence. I'd also like to thank all our guest bloggers including fashion forecaster Geraldine Wharry and writer Emma Tucker.

Although you won’t be hearing from me, you might also like to check out our Innovation and Enterprise blog for entrepreneurs and our Living Knowledge blog to get a ‘behind the scenes’ view of the British Library. Find me on Twitter and via my website.

All the best,

Fran

Throughout February, the Library’s Business & IP Centre will be running various events aimed to help you and your business use the web effectively. In the last few years, the digital industry has boomed, making an online presence a necessity. With the increasing use of tablets, smart phones and the like, customers are accessing the internet more and more frequently, giving you the opportunity to appeal to your market. For creatives the interenet is a treasure trove of potential customers and for maximising your exposure. In October I wrote a blog about the benefits of using Pinterest for designer/makers, so although using all these different tools might seem a bit daunting, once you have a little bit of direction it's a doddle.

Web in Feb will be running from the 5th February to 28th and there will be more than ten events held in the Centre over the month of February. These special workshops will help you get to grips with marketing, social media and raising investment, to name but a few. Unfortuntaely some of these have already sold out so get your tickets for the remaining ones while you still can. Don't forget to tweet about it using #webinfeb!
